At just 22 years old, Saihaj Singh Gill is proving that discipline, authenticity, and passion can still break through in today’s music industry. Balancing life in corporate America while pursuing his dream in music, the rising Punjabi artist is quickly building momentum with his viral track “Billi Akh” and an organic story that fans are starting to connect with across social media.

Born from humble beginnings, Saihaj’s journey into music started long before studio sessions and growing recognition. During the COVID era in high school, he, alongside his cousin and brother, began recording English songs under the name “NKG.” There were no expensive studios, engineers, or industry connections involved, just creativity, ambition, and a $15 microphone from Amazon.

“We were just doing it for the love of the game,” Saihaj says.

What started as a fun hobby slowly became something much bigger. After taking a break from music following high school, Saihaj found himself drawn back into the creative world during his junior year at Michigan State University. Surrounded by supportive friends like Gurtegh Singh and Samee, he regained the confidence to return to music — this time stepping into the Punjabi scene.

That decision would ultimately change everything.

Through industry connections, Saihaj eventually linked with Chan Mudhawala, someone he credits heavily for helping guide him through the industry and opening doors early in his career. With Chan’s support and mentorship, Saihaj released his debut Punjabi track in 2023 and has continued building ever since.

“Honestly, I wouldn’t be here without Chan Mudhawala,” he explains. “He really helped me understand the industry and pushed me in the right direction.”

Like many independent artists, Saihaj’s path hasn’t been without obstacles. One of the biggest lessons he learned early on was understanding who genuinely wanted to see him succeed. According to the artist, dealing with fake friendships and people with hidden intentions became one of the toughest parts of navigating the industry.

“A lot of people act like they support you but really don’t,” Saihaj shares. “It took time to realize not everybody around you has good intentions.”

Instead of letting those experiences break his focus, he chose to tighten his circle and rely on the people who consistently stood beside him. He gives major credit to his parents, his brother Nihaal, and his longtime friend Taj for keeping him grounded throughout the process.

Saihaj especially credits his father for helping shape his mentality both inside and outside of music. While fully supportive of his dreams, his father always emphasized one important principle: keep work first. That balance helped Saihaj stay disciplined, complete his bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University, and build stability while continuing to invest in his music career.

In an era where many artists chase overnight success, Saihaj Gill represents something different, consistency, patience, and authenticity. His growing fanbase has started gravitating toward his relatable story and energetic sound, especially following the rise of “Billi Akh,” which has continued gaining traction online.

With increasing buzz surrounding his name, Saihaj says his long-term vision is simple: continue building a loyal community and eventually perform on stage with the same friends who supported him from the very beginning.

“I just want to keep making music, have fun with my boys on stage, and inspire people who are chasing dreams too,” he says.

As Punjabi music continues evolving globally, emerging artists like Saihaj Gill are helping shape the next generation of talent. And if the early momentum surrounding “Billi Akh” is any indication, this may only be the beginning of what’s next for the Michigan State graduate turned rising artist.
