Despite moving frequently, including a significant period living with her grandmother on Fenkell Avenue, Payne’s family eventually settled in the suburbs of Southfield for better educational opportunities. It was here that Payne began to come into her own, standing up for herself and discovering her passion for entertainment.
From an early age, Payne was drawn to the arts, starting with dance at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and later transitioning to modeling under the name “Nadia Marie.” Her modeling career saw her succeed in editorial, print, and vixen modeling, culminating in her winning “New Model of the Year” in Los Angeles. However, Payne found that the industry’s demands for a “particular look” led her to pivot towards her true passion: music.
Payne’s journey into music began in June 2017 with the release of her debut song, “Rebel.” This marked the beginning of her rise in the industry, showcasing her ability to stand out with her unique flavor and powerful storytelling. “Creating this song, I wanted to make a huge statement,” Payne shares. “I was going through a lot in my personal life and felt like I wasn’t active enough. I wanted to go harder, step on toes because I wanted to. The beat was exactly what I needed to stamp my statement in rap.”
