Having an extensive background in the Music Industry that goes back to when he was 5 years old, Ran Blacc is not new to the game. This US Born Artist gives us a taste of what he calls Hip Hop & B once again thru his latest Mixtape “Alter Egos 2.2.22”.
Stepping away from the normal Hip Hop and R & B Genres, Ran Blacc combines his love for both genres and pays homage to them by creating his own lane and standing tall amongst the G.O.A.T.s’ of our era through Crown Republik Entertainment, LLC.
Growing up in a home full of musical talent, thanks to his dad Randall Black Sr. of the Techniques, Ran Blacc knew then that music would continue to be a huge part of his life. His journey into the Music Industry came after a successful Football Career coming out of the UNLV. From there, Team Black and Blue Athletics was created to help young student athletes succeed and further their lives. He is also a Mentor, Educator, Coach, and a Family Man just to name a few.
Aside from the many hats he already wears between being a Teacher, Coach, Mentor, and Family Man, you can find Ran Blacc running his company, Crown Republik Entertainment, LLC. He also oversees Crown Music, Crown Republik South, It’s Da’ Crown Recording Studio, Crown Republik Ent. Clothing and Apparel, Crown Republik Media and Marketing, Crown Graphix, and It’s Da’ Crown Radio.
With all of that going on in his daily life, it’s hard to imagine how he even found the time to record another Mixtape, and yet here we are! Hitting the Global Network hard, Ran Blacc has gifted us with another Mixtape called “Alter Egos 2.2.22”. I was fortunate enough to interview Ran Blacc and get a better insight behind “Alter Egos 2.2.22” and the unreleased album Alter Egos!
NG: First of all, thank you for allowing us to sit down and pick at your brain! I know you stay busy helping your company grow, teaching/coaching and with everything else you have your hands in, when did you find the time to get a solo project out to us?
RB: Thats Funny! But I really do have to say I don’t know, some where in between the teaching, coaching and operating the ins and outs of this company. Music is my outlet so its easy to end up with a solo project as much as we’re in the studio. Sometimes Im just recording a moment in time written in song form and then it fit the idea of the project. I guess I’m weird like that. Its all part of the work for me.
NG: You mentioned that “Alter Egos 2.2.22” is part of a Mixtape Series. Where does this mixtape fall into that series, and what is the inspiration behind this Mixtape?
RB: Ice Cube! You remember when Ice Cube did his jacking for beats track? Well thats kind of what we did in mixtape form. Took a bunch off songs you heard before and flipped them. Then stood back and said it was good!
NG: Crown Republik Entertainment, LLC is known for the symbolism used in everything from the graphics, lyrics, song arrangement, and more, is there any of that in this Mixtape, if so what it is?
RB: Now you already know!!!!!! Of course! But you have to go listen and search the artwork, I can’t tell you about it. You got to find it or listen for it. Takes away from the fun.
NG: What is the motivation behind the songs you selected for this remix?
RB: All just songs I liked or beats I wanted to write to. The meaning is in the words. This is just one of five of the series and if the readers have been with me since Alter Egos “Where’s Ya Bite?!” The the already know. Its the ability to showcase all the characters or egos in a way that no one knew about!
NG: What is your favorite song on the Mixtape and why?
RB: Hmmmm, I believe my favorite song didn’t make the mixtape, Wait 4 U. We couldn’t get it cleared but its for sure one of the best songs that didn’t make the mixtape. If I had to pick one on the mixtape Id say So Live or Sticking To The Plan. I think they are both masterfully created, from production to vocals, the mix, everything! They’re both just hella dope! Great songs!
NG: You mentioned that you are working on an “Alter Egos” Album, when do you anticipate the release of that Album?
RB: Dec 2nd. Its been a lot of fun creating two projects at the same time and trying to follow a story line of sorts. I can truly say this has been one of my most creative adventures as far as music is concerned. It took a lot of focus and drive to get them both done and they not sound a like at all. Thats work for real.
NG: What can we expect from that album?
RB: FIRE!!! The goal when we as a team sat down and discussed the release for my solo was billboard or bust! Now that might sound odd to others but my circle felt like we been at it long enough that its time for us to chart and not just a single but an album and I was to be the ghost rider. Its been one heck of a challenge but its been well worth the growth. I enjoy making all our music but I have really enjoyed this journey. Not that I’ve been solo BUT I’ve been SOLO, if you get what I mean. So you should expect the unexpected especially when it comes to the Alter Egos!
NG: Any particular songs you’re excited to release?
RB: On the new album? Hmmm, Everything, shit! For real. I say it every time and 9 of 10 times it is but again this ones different. Every Album I try to do something no ones expecting. I think we accomplished that with this album for sure. Im on my Slick Rick… Story Telling! Especially with this being the last album I’ll do for a little while we really focused on giving the fans and listeners the Alter Egos at their best. The fans been waiting for this album. There’s been five Alter Egos mixtapes, all with 20k – 30k streams. Its time to drop them all new music but for sell. No singles until after the album drops, we’ll let the fans pick the singles. Thats different!
NG: What is the best advise you’ve been given in the industry that you would like to share with the fans or any upcoming artist?
RB: Keep going! My man Sixx John once said “you are going to put more into this music game then you will ever get out”. And thats truth. So if you doing it for the love… just keep going!
NG: What’s next for you?
RB: Paperwork and Contracts! I have many things on my plate and some are pulling up with a bag and we been waiting to do certain things so for the next year I’m change my focus and be better on my business. Im not retiring but the business is booming and theres things that can put us as a team in a better place as a whole and its time to look in that direction. Going to spend some time locked in on the different arms of the CRE tree.
NG: Where can people find you and your music?
RB: Every where. Google Ran Blacc, or hit my website www.RanBlacc.com
NG: You not retiring right? And do you have any final thoughts or words you’d like to share with us before we depart?
RB: Nawwwww. I’ll be back. I have a few more albums, not singles, to come. This won’t be the last of my music you’ll hear, that I promise!
NG: Thank you so much for taking time to sit with us! We really appreciate it, and looking forward to all that Crown Republik Entertainment, LLC has coming our way!
