Rupert Grint finds himself once again entangled in Ed Sheeran’s world in the pop star’s latest release, “A Little More,” which premiered alongside the track on Thursday (Aug. 7).
A Familiar Obsession Returns
In the surreal and playful music video, the Harry Potter actor revives his memorable role as Sheeran’s obsessive fan from the 2011 hit “Lego House.” This time, Grint’s character has supposedly turned over a new leaf after serving time for sneaking into Sheeran’s concert and impersonating him on stage. But as fate would have it, he still can’t seem to shake the singer’s presence.
Sheeran delivers the song’s bittersweet hook — “I used to love you / Now every day I hate you just a little more” — as scenes show Grint’s growing frustration while Sheeran appears in every corner of his life: plastered across billboards, TV screens, posters, and more.
Love Turns into a Sheeran Nightmare
The quirky plot takes a wild twist when Grint’s character falls for a woman and proposes. On their wedding day, however, the celebration turns into something bizarre — the guests all morph into Ed Sheeran, staring back at him. The ultimate shock comes when Grint lifts his bride’s veil, only to discover she has transformed into Sheeran as well.
A Reunion 14 Years in the Making
“Sheeran and Grint’s creative reunion wasn’t guaranteed,” Sheeran revealed on Instagram. “I hadn’t worked with @rupertgrint in 14 years since Lego House, so I didn’t know if he’d say yes to this idea. But I’m so glad he did. It’s such a fun, bonkers video … Rupert, my brother from another mother, thank you for throwing yourself into this — it wouldn’t exist had you said no.”
Part of a New Musical Chapter
“A Little More” serves as the newest single from Sheeran’s upcoming album Play, set for release in September. Fans have already had a taste of this new era with tracks like “Azizam,” “Old Phone,” and “Sapphire.”
This LP marks the first entry in Sheeran’s next album series, following his acclaimed Mathematics sequence — 2012’s Plus, 2014’s Multiply, 2017’s Divide, 2021’s Equals, and 2023’s Minus. Each of these chart-topping projects landed in the top five of the Billboard 200, setting the stage for Play to be another major success.
