Juno’s love for music began at a young age when his father gifted him a guitar, and he joined a mariachi group at the age of seven. He fondly remembers waking up on Saturdays to the sound of his mother playing 70’s romantic ballads and Spanish rock, which had a lasting impact on him. These early musical experiences, along with modern acts like Radiohead and Brian Eno, influenced Juno in developing his own signature sound.
Throughout his career, Juno has remained dedicated to exploring new avenues in music and striving to create something truly original and innovative. In 2009, he debuted his EP “My Hoverboard” at the Phoenix Project, a local lineup event, heavily influenced by J Dilla, Flying Lotus, and the LA beat scene. A few years later, he co-founded Smashing Buttons with Rob Viktum, an event that showcased live performances by artists creating beats at the Arcade Bar.
However, on March 13, 2015, everything changed for Juno when he was involved in a car accident that resulted in the loss of his girlfriend, Alicia. The accident caused Juno to suffer memory loss, and he struggled to regain his previous abilities. The neurologist informed him that it would likely take about a year of rehab, in order for him to make some progress in his recovery. He spent months in bed, reflecting on his relationship with Alicia and the memories that had escaped him.
In an effort to regain his memory and sense of self, Juno started digging through his files to see if there were any audio files or drafts that might help him remember who he used to be. However, everything looked foreign and unfamiliar, and he felt like he was learning about Juno Complex all over again through his files.
Despite the hardships, Juno persevered and channeled his experiences into his music. He created the EP “Lost Files,” which incorporates his personal journey through tragedy and memory loss. The EP blends ambient soundscapes with natural sounds and audio recordings, showcasing Juno’s unique sound.
