The album ‘Battle Scars’ by 22Tango was, for the most part enjoyable. 22Tango’s lyrics were great and relevant to the subject often, however it did seem as though he held back at times. His delivery could have been more direct in places, but I didn’t question the authenticity of any of it.
Every track seemed genuine. The quality is great. 22Tango can be a great rapper, and more likely than not he’ll be an even greater rapper in time. There really are flashes of greatness in ‘Battle Scars.’ When he’s comfortable, he’s quite insightful even, but some places he sounds like he wants to rap differently. Still, it was refreshing to hear a debut so unfamiliar yet good. ‘Battle Scars’ is 22Tango’s first professional album of 8 songs, each with its own vibe. I will certainly be following Him and waiting for what’s next. I’d call that value.
